The Wadawurrung people are the Traditional Owners of this land. Theirs is a living culture with an ongoing connection to Country.
European settlers, including the famous Chirnside family, also came to the area for farming in the 19th century and left a lasting legacy. All of these people were sustained by the area’s waterways and the rich variety of plants, birds, animals and fish found there.
Today Harpley is undergoing another transformation as a new community forms and becomes part of Harpley’s shared history.
